Cost Assessment Facilitation Workshop
with optional TCAce tool training
The Total Cost Assessment methodology relies on interdisciplinary expertise
combined with advanced computing power that handles real world uncertainty.
To make this combination work takes a skilled facilitator who can coax
information out of the experts in a form that doesn’t necessarily
need to fit neatly into a spreadsheet.
In this popular workshop, we conduct a total cost assessment using the
expertise of the assembled group. In addition to preparatory exercises,
the group will have the opportunity to participate in the TCA with an
experienced facilitator. Each member will also have a chance to facilitate
a part of the workshop. We will explore what works well and what are
stumbling blocks to success.
During an optional second day, we will use the TCAce tool to crunch
the scenarios defined during the workshop. This class will consist of
hands-on training using TCAce. In addition to running the numbers, we
will do some exploration of sensitivity to various scenarios and costs.
Participants will then have the opportunity to assemble the final report
using the results obtained from the tool. We will conclude with a presentation
of the results during a web conference including a discussion of sensitivity
analysis, results achieved, and how to present the results to others.
This workshop requires participants to understand the basic TCA methodology
prior to the workshop, and a preliminary reading on the topic chosen
for the TCA. Participants will also need to extend approximately 2 hours
of additional work time (depending upon the outcome of the workshop)
and attend a final webmeeting approximately 2 hours long.
