in life cycle analysis and total cost assessment, two key methodologies
integral to sustainable business practices. She guides a diverse and talented
team of experts using innovative science and technology who work hand-in-hand
with companies to make sustainability part of their infrastructure. Working
with Fortune 500 companies, government bodies and institutional clients
Melissa helps them to identify opportunities, define the scope and scale
of projects, and design implementation strategies that achieve defined
outcomes. She especially enjoys helping EarthShift staff engage in client
projects, digging in to find pragmatic solutions while keeping the big
picture in view. Prior to leading EarthShift, Melissa was an organizational
development consultant working with well known businesses such as Ben
& Jerry’s and Honda, providing her with a unique perspective
on how businesses grow and evolve, and how best to assist them in the
pursuit of sustainability.
Laurel
McEwen (Training & Marketing Director)
With
her education, a BS in Marine Biology and a MBA, combined with her career
experience and her passion for the environment, Laurel offers an expertise
knowledge in combining monetary and environmental profits for companies.
She sees herself as a “financial realist” and strives towards
developing methods to adequately measure all three pillars (environmental,
financial & social) of sustainability.
Laurel develops and teaches many of our courses on LCA and SimaPro. She
developed our Recycling course, the first of its kind to be offered to
the LCA community. Laurel's understanding of system processes and her
commitment to reuse and recycling in industry provide her with a unique
perspective when dealing with recycling issues and LCA.
