| The
multi user version has the same features
as a normal SimaPro versions, but is extended with extra features needed
for sound database management in a multi user environment.
It also comes with the same inventory databases and impact assessment methods. In fact, you can simply upgrade from a single user to a multi user environment as the database is the same! Access rights The multi user version is set up in such a way that the database manager can keep full responsibility for the quality of all data, by being able to control access of the database by other users. The manager has access to all data and can control the access of other users to the data, by defining access rights to SimaPro functions. These are saved as user types. When creating a user, the manager chooses a login, password and assigns a user type. Editing data To maintain data integrity, only the manager can edit data in the libraries. Other users can use the library data, but are not able to edit. A user can copy a process from a process database to his/her own project and edit the process there. Editing data in projects is one of the items that can be defined in the user types. The manager can create project managers, that have similar rights as the manager concerning the editing of projects and libraries. Technical detailsSimaPro multi
user versions run as a client-server system over TCP/IP and IPX networks.
The server must be a computer with a Windows operating system, Novell
servers are not supported. |
