EarthShift provides both online and on-site training in Life Cycle Assessment, Total Cost Assessment, Carbon Footprinting, Building Science and for the tools that we provide such as SimaPro and TCAce™.

Plus, we are always happy to customize and schedule a course to suit the particular needs of the attendees.

Courses include:

Online Courses

All online classes are either two hours or three hours long with a 15 min. break.

Cost: $500 a session unless otherwise noted (Three or more attendees from an organization receive a 10% discount).

• Introduction to Life Cycle Assessment (2.5 hr introductory course to methods of LCA)
• Applied LCA in SimaPro (For those new to LCA and SimaPro who have never used SimaPro) This is a two part 6 hr course.
• Carbon Footprinting
• LCA for Decision Makers (2 hr seminar to introduce organizations to the process and benefits of using LCA as the cornerstone of their sustainabilty claims)
• End of Life- for beginners (3 hr course on how to model "end of life" of a product in SimaPro)
• End of Life- advanced (3 hr course on advanced modeling of end of life, recycling, etc)
• Impact Assessment Methods (3 hr course on the major IAM's in SimaPro and how to choose your best method)
• Creating Impact Assessment Methods (3hr course on creating your own IAM)
• Recycling in SimaPro (2 part course- 1st session/2hr, 2nd session/3hr on building recycling scenarios in SimaPro, $650)
• Parameters (2hr course on building parameters in SimaPro)
• Costing & Social Impacts ( 3hr course on how to model costing and social impacts in SimaPro)
• SimaPro for LCA practioners (3hr course to introduce the SimaPro software to practitioners already familiar with conducting LCAs using similiar tools)
• ReCiPe (1.5hr course to introduce you to the new ReCiPe Impact Assessment Method, only $75)
• Beyond Building Green (2 hr course on the scientific principles that dictate how a building performs over it's lifetime, $375)
• LCA for the Building Industry (3hr course to introduce the steps of an LCA, how it applies to the building industry and how to use three tools, SimaPro, Athena's Eco-calculator and Athena's Impact Estimator)

Online Training Schedule:

Courses in YELLOW require that the student has completed one LCA project using the SimaPro software.

Courses in GREEN require that the student has previously taken the Applied LCA in SimaPro courses or the Intro to LCA/SimaPro on-site course or conducted projects to the equivalent.

On-site Courses

In person trainings are 1-2 days, usually from 9am - 5pm EST.

Trainings are held in Portsmouth, NH and cost $1250 per day (unless otherwise noted). Sign up a month ahead of time and pay only $1000. Classes will be canceled two weeks prior if there is a lack of registered participants. Contact us for more details or group pricing.

• Introduction to LCA/SimaPro on-site (2 day intensive training course)
• Advanced SimaPro- Modeling (1 day course including: End of Life, Parameters, Recycling and Costing & Social Impacts)
• Advanced SimaPro- Interpretation (1 day course including: Impact Assessment Methods, Creating IAMs, sensitivity and uncertainty)
• Introduction to Total Cost Assessment (1 day course on the Total Cost Assessment methodology with optional 2nd day)
• Using TCAce™ (this is an optional 2nd day to Intro to TCA on using the TCAce tool)
• Design for Environment(2 day course on designing environmentally and socially conscience products based on life cycle thinking)
• TCA Workshop Facilitation Training (on site only-scheduled upon interest)
• Toxicity in LCA: working with USEtox (1 day course on the theory behind IAMs on toxicity (USEtox prerequisite reading). Read more about USEtox..
• Umbertro Training (on site only-scheduled upon interest)

Ask EarthShift

In addition to our training, we are also offering a monthly half-hour Ask EarthShift online session. This is a good chance to ask those "how to" questions or to listen in on others questions or suggestions. It would also be a great way establish an LCA/SimaPro user group.
